At Thor Stables horses are a passion and a lifestyle.

Martine and Erik became fascinated with showjumping horses, captivated by their beauty and power. In 2006 they bought some 3 years old jumping horses: one of them was Etoile van ’t Oudbos (Toulon x Lys De Darmen).

He became an approved stallion and father of many of their later quality breeding off-springs.

Etoile came under the saddle of Gregory Wathelet, the stallion was well on his way to progress into an absolute world-class horse when an injury called a premature end to his career in the sport.  

As horse lovers and enthusiasts, they have developed an eye for true talent and have many quality horses in their stables, based in Zutendaal, almost in the backyard of Zangersheide.

Our equestrian facilities include state of the art infrastructure to allow our horses to learn and develop on the best way possible. This includes a covered horse walker, all year round grass turnouts, quality winter paddocks, solariums, indoor and outdoor arenas and the most beautiful surroundings to hack our horses.

In order to give our horses the best care and training possible, we have the support of the best team by their side:

Thimo Stegen (Bel) - A talented 20yo rider with experience mainly with young horses (4,5 and 6yo) which he actively and successfully developes and takes to competitions.

A group of people who look after everyday details of their horses’ well-being, making sure they have everything they need to be happy, healthy and thriving. 

At Thor Stables the goal as horse owners and breeders is to give young horses the best possible education and training to reach their highest potential and to contribute to the highest level of equestrian sports, with quality horses, developed under the best conditions.
